Is Your Kitchen As Inviting As
Your Neighborhood Coffee House? Tips To Create Your Own Comfortable Niche Right
At Home
If you enjoyed the atmosphere in your own kitchen and it allowed you to relax
and savor a cup of coffee, would you ever desire to go back to another coffee
house? You, too, can create a room just as inviting with a few inexpensive
touches and a good cup of coffee.
Did you ever wonder why it was so much more appealing
to visit your local coffee house rather than your own kitchen? What does their
"house" have that yours doesn't? It's all just a matter of a little creativity
and some delicious coffee and you can transform your home into the most
comfortable coffee house in town.
The first thing to assess about your new niche is the seating. If you are using
your kitchen table, how comfortable are the chairs? Chair cushions are an
inexpensive way of making an ordinary chair into a luxury lap depository and you
can remove them before the kids get home from school. Darker, rich colors will
make them even cozier and they will even be able to endure a coffee stain or
two.
Choose a dark and comfortable throw that will match your chair cushions and
throw it over the back of one of your kitchen chairs somewhat carelessly. We
used a dark brown chenille throw from the living room. Properly placed, your
throw will be saying, "You have time to relax and daydream here in my comfy
niche and you may even take a nap." Of course, we all know that you probably do
not, but it will be such a nice effect for the room.
Now, what have you got on top of your table? Nothing belongs on top of the table
except a beautiful table cloth and a centerpiece. You can use two tablecloths
laid in contrasting layers for a cushier effect. This would be your opportunity
to use a lighter color in the room, but just on one of the layers. Your
centerpiece can be a bowl of fruit, candle holders, or a vase of flowers. Choose
something already in your home that you truly love and it will be the center of
your attention in your new room.
We found some perfectly lovely wall signs for your new coffee house at Vintage
Metal Art, located at http://www.vintagemetalart.com. They have an ample variety
of vintage style metal coffee signs that will work perfectly here. One to three
coffee signs should probably do the trick, but you may want to add a pastry sign
or another diner sign as an extra added touch. They are very good quality and
this particular company has the largest selection.
That brings us to the coffee. Brew a pot of your favorite blend and allow that
to be the only aroma in the air. Now, forego the mug. If you don't already have
a set of cups and saucers, it is well worth indulging in a beautiful set that
you use only when you are savoring your coffee house moments. The old coffee mug
is functional and handy when drinking on the fly but in this house, we pause to
appreciate and delight in the ceremony of drinking coffee like royalty.
Enjoy your new room. Entertain in your new room. Relax in your new room. You've
now created your own coffee haven and you can re-create it at any time in a
snap. Even when your room becomes an ordinary kitchen again at dinnertime, you
can bask in the knowledge that the queen will be back tomorrow to relish in the
abundance of your own luxurious making.
